Independent Schools' Board Research Project

Ryan. D. Newman is a Doctorate of Education Student in Ethical Leadership at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Divinity from the Virginia Theological Seminary.

Ryan is ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church with nearly 30 years of experience in education and churches. Throughout his professional career, Ryan has served as an educator and administrator in independent schools, including as a head of school.

 

Currently, he serves as the Executive Director of the Commission on Schools in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and the Program Director for Thriving in Ministry at Virginia Theological Seminary. Ryan is also the Founding Principal of Rite One Consulting—an Episcopal-centric consulting firm serving schools, churches, and non-profits.

Ryan resides in Southern California with his spouse, a physician and university professor at the University of California, Irvine, and their daughter.
